sheTalks October | An Interview with Becca Miller Gordon

sheTalks October | An Interview with Becca Miller Gordon

We’re excited to launch our sheTalks series this October by introducing you to Becca Miller Gordon — entrepreneur, content creator, and mom to newly adopted twin daughters. Her story is one of growth, resilience, and inspiration.

How I Met Becca

I first met Becca over 15 years ago when we both lived on the west side of Cleveland. At the time, Becca was my manicurist. We immediately hit it off — we loved talking and connecting.

Becca has always been a kind and generous person, and I am so thrilled to be recognizing her this month for everything she’s accomplished both personally and professionally.

Personal & Business Background

Tell us about yourself and your journey as a business owner/content creator.

I started my first salon in Lakewood, Ohio, in 2016. With just 4 employees the day we opened, we have since grown into a staff of 35 and now reside in a space that’s 6,000 square feet. I would say I am new to the content creator world. We started sharing our adoption journey a few years ago, and we just adopted our twin daughters this past July. A lot of my page has become about them and our journey to get where we are today.

What inspired you to start your business and content creation?

I come from an entrepreneurial family. My dad owned a successful frozen food company for over 50 years, and some of my siblings also own businesses as well. Out of the 7 of us, 6 have a business of some sort — all in very different industries.

As for content creation, we signed everything with our adoption attorney in 2020, and waited over 2 years to tell the world what we were working on. So many adoptees and families in our situation reached out, so I decided to keep sharing (with a large guard up for a while) about our process. We were placed with foster babies late in 2023, and finally adopted them a few months ago. They are a gift I will never take for granted.

Passion & Motivation

What do you love most about what you do?

The beauty industry is constantly evolving — new products, new treatments, new methods. It’s fun to keep up with the trends and see what’s on the horizon. I’ve had a passion for beauty since I was very young. I also love that we help men and women of all ages feel good about themselves — whether it’s a haircut or a full spa day. It’s nice to see people take self-care time for themselves.

How do you stay motivated on tough days?

Truly, my girls. Also, reminding myself that everything is a season. Things might be tough some weeks but then we might have months where it’s seamless. And if owning a business wasn’t hard, everyone would do it — in a way, it’s what we signed up for.

What advice would you give to other women pursuing their dreams?

I think it’s about looking at the bigger picture, not just a small pocket of time. Ask yourself: Is this dream something you’ll still want to give 100% to in 5 years? 10 years? Or does it just sound fun right now? Make a business plan, but also find where you have support. And know you might not get a paycheck for a few years — is that reality okay with you?

Jewelry & Style

What piece of jewelry makes you feel most confident?

I love my wedding ring, although I’m ready for a change (wink wink, sheRocks!!!). We upgraded my ring at 5 years, and now at 11 I’m ready to change her up again! I also love my Rolex watch — I wear it every single day and rarely take it off.

How does your personal style reflect your personality?

I don’t even know if I have a style! I wear everything from bold prints and patterns to neutrals. I shop anywhere and everywhere — if I like it, I buy it.

What does “sheRocks” mean to you?

sheRocks sounds confident. It sounds loyal and luxury.

What piece are you going to add to your collection?

How much time do you have for this list? Kidding… but I’ve always been a jewelry girl. My dad always bought my mom, sisters, and I jewelry, so I grew up loving it. I like something unique — not what everyone has — but I also love a classic piece I can wear every day.

Empowerment & Giving Back

How do you support and uplift other women?

On top of the salon, I also own an event space in Westlake. We’ve hosted a number of events for women in business, and I’ve made some wonderful connections over the past 10 years. So many local Cleveland women inspire me, and I’m grateful to have a network of friends I can call when I need a listening ear or a vent session.

What’s a powerful lesson you’ve learned along the way?

“One More.” This came from my dad. He was always telling us one more — one more mile, one more I love you, one more hug. I try to remember this when I want to throw in the towel.

Who is a woman that inspires you?

My mom inspires me every day. Being a mom to 7 kids and over 20 grandkids, she keeps our family connected and strong. Another inspiring woman in Cleveland is Emily from Art of Sucre — she’s a powerhouse. I had her at our 2nd salon birthday party when she had her cotton candy cart, and now she’s making cotton candy for Beyoncé and beyond. It’s so cool to watch her grow.

Becca’s journey reminds us of the beauty in persistence, the power of community, and the joy of chasing your dreams while staying true to yourself. For Becca, “sheRocks” means confidence, loyalty, and luxury — and we couldn’t think of a better way to kick off this series.
